We've Got a Chupe Problem

Someone sure does love her chupete, or chupe as we call it!

Ella has had a chupe since she came home from the hospital. I've never been too concerned with her attachment to it, until now! Lately, she has a hard time parting with it, and seems to always find one in her stash when I take it away. So, we are trying to only give it to her for sleep and in the car.  My hope is to be chupeless come summer. We'll see how this works out!

In the meantime, she has no problem giving it to us when we ask for it.

Ella, can I have your chupe please?

¿Ella, me das tu chupe por favor?

But once she hands it over, she wants it right back! Let the whining ensue.

Sorry about the diaper shots. Little miss just had a diaper change, it was late, and we were sans bloomers. Don't worry, she never wears a dress without them!!

Here Mom. Oh wait, can I have it back now!

Any suggestions on how to make this transition a smooth one? We need all the help we can get!

We are so lucky . . . . .

to live in sunny San Diego! This weekend has been picture perfect amazing and we have soaked up every minute of our beautiful and warm So Cal weather. Here's our weekend recap.

I was off Friday(and Monday too! Thank you president's weekend) so my Sis and I decided to meet up at Kit Carson park and let the kids play. I haven't seen my nephews in what seems like forever, so it was so nice to see my boys. Ella loves her cousins and couldn't wait to give them their Valentine's and play, play, play. We love this park because it has great play structures, a beautiful maze area, and even a huge pond to feed the ducks. We arrived at 9, and Ella and the boys played hard until 10:30. I know I have said this before, but they play so well together. She keeps up with them and they take such sweet care of their prima.

Saturday was so beautiful out so we headed down to Moonlight State Beach after Ella's nap for some much needed fun in the sun. We spent some time on the sand, then headed to the playground. Ella loves parks and play structures, so she was right at home.

Ella just adores her Da! Watching them together and seeing how much Jose loves her is the greatest joy I've ever known. He loves his be so much and would spend every second of his day with her if he could. I knew Jose would be a wonderful father, but I had no idea it would be this sweet!

At the top of the slide, Ella was trying to hold this little boys hand as they went down. It was so cute. He apparently thought otherwise. She is so social and active it kills me, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Ella's happy place. The swings!!

On Sunday, we spent the morning playing at Gigi's, then most of the afternoon playing outside at home and running errands as a family. Jose and I had a list of things we needed to do around the house(new shower head in master bath, fix our running and oh so annoying toilet, repot our plants on the patio, and Ella proof a few drawers in the kitchen that she can finally reach), so we headed to Lowe's and Target to get a few supplies.

Ella was such a good helper with the plants, and also lent Da a hand with the other tasks. She certainly loves to help and tends to throws a fit when it's time to stop and clean up. We had a nice day at home and got tons accomplished.

I was off Monday, and Jose's Mom insisted on having Ella(Monday is her day for childcare). Mom and Dad Garcia absolutely love spending Mondays with Ella, and were sad to think they wouldn't see her for two weeks. So. . . .  I sent her on her way, and I had the day to organize, clean, and enjoy a movie with my Sis. We originally planned on seeing Safe Haven, but my Sis was rushing and so we decided to see Identify Theft instead. It was freakin hilarious! We were rolling in our seats. Such a funny movie and it was exactly what we needed. A good laugh! These days are much needed and I was so glad to see my Sis too. We don't get to spend as much time together as I'd like, and I miss her dearly during the week. It was the perfect day!

Well, there you have it! Weekends like this make it really hard to go back to work. How many days until Spring Break?

Our Sweet Valentine

I have always loved Valentine's Day. Not because of the flowers or chocolate, but more importantly because of the LOVE! I love celebrating the love I have for both Jose and Ella. They are both everything to me and I do not know where I would be without them.

Now when it comes to Jose and I, we have never really made that big of deal about V Day. He is always telling me how much he loves me and does so many things to prove it too. He supports me, cares for me, encourages me, and would do anything for me(us!). I don't think any amount of chocolate or flowers could replace that.

I wanted to get Jose a little something this year that represented our love. I found this really cute Etsy shop and had a printable made that I've had my eye on. Jose loved it, and my plan was to frame it, but it didn't arrive until Feb. 14th(the first one was damaged in the mail). I think it's pretty cute, and I can't wait to find a place for it. I also got Jose his favorite oatmeal soap and loaded him up with enough Reese's to last a year! (Although it will probably only last a week. He is addicted to anything Reese's.)

Last year Ella was just a little baby be, and didn't quite get Valentine's Day. This year, she loved all the hearts, and especially loved all the fun outfits she got to wear in celebration of heart day. Ella has been rocking her outfits all month, and I just love it. She is definitely a girly girl, just like her Mama.

These pics aren't the best, but I haven't really been taking too many as of late and if you haven't noticed, this sweet girl will not look at the camera to save her life. She is just too busy. She has slowly started to get the idea when we say "cheese" or "queso" and will turn and look with the cutest little smile. We'll continue to work on it because I would like some pics of her actual face!

So, there you have it. A few pics of our love on Valentine's Day. We love you Ella Catherine and are so blessed to have you in our lives.

I hope you all had a great V Day too!

Photo Booth Funnies

Hi there! Ella and I have been having so much fun on Photo Booth since I got my new MacBook in September. Eery once in awhile we get a little silly and take some pics! I have been wanting to post them and was reminded when I read one of my favorite bloggers most recent posts. So here are Ella, Jose, and I being our silly selves. Enjoy!

Ella wanted to see her FAT lip!

iPad time.

Yes, we love the effects too.

These are the moments I treasure with my be. Just us, having a blast taking some silly pics. I wouldn't trade these moments for anything.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Our Brave Be

Well, today was the day! Ella Catherine had her Bilateral Tympanostomy with Tubes surgery at Children's hospital this morning. Gosh... her dad and I are so glad it's over! Ella was such a trooper and proved to be the strong, brave girl we always knew she was. Here's how it all went down!

We headed to the hospital at around 5:15, and arrived at about 6:00. Check in was at 6:20, and we were called in to preop at about 7:20. The process was actually super fast, and all the nurses we so sweet and caring. Ella was measured, weighed, her vitals were check, and we were then greeted by her ENT doctor. We love Dr. Benz and he is so loving towards our girl. Dr. Benz reexplained what he was going to do and said that the entire procedure would only take about 15 minutes. Ella was a little cranky at this point, and really wanted a bottle. She was not allowed any fluids and her last ba ba was at 6pm Wednesday night. Poor girl was thirsty! Once Dr. Benz was ready, Ella's anesthesiologist came in and was so great explaining everything they would do to prepare Ella for the surgery. Then, it was time. I was not allowed to go back with her because they find it more difficult to deal with the child. This was hard. Jose and I kissed our girl and handed her off to Dr. Benz. That's right, he carried her right in to surgery. I don't think she knew what hit her! Jose and I were then directed to a private waiting room where we waited for about 20 minutes. Dr. Benz came right in and said everything went perfectly smoothly and that she did beautifully. He said she laid right down on the table and was so good when the put the mask over her face for her meds. I was so glad to hear this! He said her left ear was filled with tons of icky junk. So bad that he had to suction it out before he could place her tube. He said it had been there awhile, and she will be so glad to finally hear. Poor girl hasn't been able to hear since November! He then handed us some drops and explained some home care directions. We will have another checkup with him in about 3 weeks.

We were then sent out to the waiting area, and we buzzed within 10 minutes because Ella had woken up. We rushed to recovery so she could be brought to us immediately. Oddly enough, this is when the tears came. When I saw her being carried in by the nurses, completely out of it, I lost it. Her eyes were open, but she was exhausted. When the nurse handed her over she said, "Oh my you've got a cuddle bunny on your hands." My response, "Not really!" I then held her for a good 15 minutes(this was so sweet) before she was ready to sit up and have some juice. They then took her vitals, and Dr. Benz came by again to see her and bring her a popsicle. This made her very happy. After about 20 more minutes she was discharged and we were on our way home. My Mom of course came down and greeted us as we were walking out. Ella was so happy to see her Gigi and I loved seeing her too. She is always so supportive and came down just to see her girls for a brief minute. We are so lucky.

Waiting for surgery with Da!

The gloves were a great distraction!

Let's do this people. I'm so thirsty and need a drink! (We all do at this point!)

Ahhhh, it's over and I can finally drink!

Mama isn't looking so hot, but here we are post surgery!

Thanks for the popsicle Dr. Benz!

Let's make some cupcakes Mom. I sure deserve it!

These last few months have been extremely hard for Jose, Ella, and I. We have been in and out of the doctor and our poor girl has been on 5 rounds of antibiotics since late November. We are so happy to be done with this and hoping that with this surgery comes no more ear infections for our girl!

We feel so blessed to have had so many friends and family members praying for Ella today. I cannot tell you how truly lucky I feel to have so many friends who called and text today to wish Ella good luck and tell us that she was in their thoughts and prayers. This is what helped me get through today. This is what gave me the strength to hand off Ella and trust that (as my dear friend Candy said) GOD had her in his hands. It means so much to me to have these special people in our lives.

Thank you for everyone who thought about Ella, Jose, and I today. I'm so ready for a restful night of sleep tonight.
