The 4 B's

The recent nights in the Garcia household have been blissful. I have been reading several books about sleep, and all of them have mentioned the importance of establishing a routine. So..... Jose and I jumped right on it. Our sweet Ella has fallen into her nightly routine beautifully. Here's how our night begins.....

First, Ella enjoys her nightly BOTTLE around 6:45. She drinks about 8 ounces! 6 ounces before her bath, and we save the rest for after bathtime! She places her hands around her bottle like she's ready to hold it. It's so cute!

Next, we have a BATH. She loves her bath! Jose still likes to give her a bath together, but it's almost time to move into the bathtub. She's getting SO big. I think I will then hand this over to Dad. He loves this time with Ella.

She also gets a nice massage from Mom or Dad. We love the Carter's lotion and it keeps her skin nice and smooth. The yummy smell is an added bonus. This is one lotion we will use for years to come.

Next, it's time for her BOOK. Jose or I will read to her each night. It really winds her down. As you can tell in this picture, she is rubbing her eyes. This is her new signal that she is tired and ready for bed. I love it!

And lastly, it's time for BED! Ella is down at about 7:45 or 8:00 depending on how quickly she'll fall asleep. This allows Jose and I some quiet time before we go to bed and start the day all over. We've been having to have dinner late, but it's nice to have the time together. Ella wakes up at about 2:30 for a feeding and then again at 6. I think we're pretty lucky. Let's just hope it sticks. And there you have it, the 4 B's! Bottle, Bath, Book, and Bed. We love our routine and love our sweet girl even more!

Today We Become One......

One year ago today, Jose made me the happiest girl alive as we became husband and wife. After 8 long years together, I was finally able to call him my husband. Gosh it felt amazing! I often times look back on that day and think about how blessed I felt to have all of our closest family and friends together to celebrate our love and the journey we had ahead of us.

I thank God every day for bringing Jose in to my life. For allowing us to find each other, and create the strong bond we have with one another. I know deep in my heart that our love will last a lifetime. I love you Jose Matias Garcia AND I love our life together. Happy Anniversary my love!

Meet Ella

July 5th, 2011 was the happiest day of my life. Although leading up to Ella's birth wasn't ideal, or at all how I imagined it would be, she entered the world at 5:56 p.m. via C-Section, weighing in at 5 lbs. 14 oz. and 19.5 inches long. Jose and I were so happy and blessed to have a healthy daughter join our family.

The days that followed were a bit of a blur, but we were finally able to take her home on Friday, July 8th.

Once home, Ella settled in beautifully. She LOVES her swing, and spends many hours sleeping the days away. I had many visitors come meet Ella and check in on Mom. I feel so blessed to have so many friends and family who have welcomed Ella into their hearts.

At her two day Dr. appointment, Ella had gained back her birth weight and then some. We were so thrilled. At her 2 week appt, she at gained more than a pound. Her doctor was SO happy. This girl loves to eat! We've spent most of our days just hanging out. I could watch her sleep all day!

Her personality is slowly beginning to stand out. Her smiles just melt my heart, and I love the way she nuzzles into my chest and cuddles both me and her Dad. She loves her car seat, and will go for a ride any time of day. It's a great way to get her fast asleep if we're having a fussy afternoon!

She also loves her bath! We recently started a nightly routine and she can't wait to get in and splash around. She has already outgrown her small bath in the sink, and is ready for her bath in the tub. This should be fun!

Ella recently turned 2 months old! It's so hard to believe. She has already changed so much. She currently weighs 11 pounds, 10 ounces and is 22.5 inches long! Ella smiles all the time, giggles, rubs her eyes when she's tired, and continues to develop her unique sounds. She's also quite the mover during tummy time. I have a feeling she'll be crawling before we know it. Yikes!

I love this sweet girl so much and can't wait to see what lies ahead.....

My First Blog Post

Hi there! I'm so excited to FINALLY write my first post. After reading many blogs over the past few months, I've finally decided to start my own thanks to my dear friends Meghan and Kirsten. Let me first say, I am by no means an excellent writer. I just want to begin documenting my families life journey. I intend to write about many things! My family, being a wife, motherhood, food, travels, clothes, teaching, and so on. I am MOST excited about having a place to document the life of our  beautiful daughter, Ella Catherine. Thanks for taking the time to visit, and I hope you find some of my posts enjoyable. Thanks for stopping by.
